RVYC Kitten Cup Regatta

Hello everyone!  What a weekend!

Results are here

In the 40 boat Laser Radial Division:

Alex Brown – 4th overall!

Chris Volkers – 2nd in Youth and 8th overall!

In the 26 boat Opti Division:

Anja had a great regatta learning leaps and bounds in all aspects of regatta racing!   Two races in the top 10 out of over 26 Optis!   What a great attitude she has!  She should build upon her results going into next weekend regatta in Victoria!  Go Anja go!

The wind was very shifty off the beach blowing light to moderate.  Very challenging racing!  Coach Robert Douglas remarked that he had not seen very many regattas in English Bay with this particular wind direction.   Rob provided valuable advice to the racers in all aspects of their racing.  Great job Rob!  He is very proud of his sailors and finds it so rewarding to be involved with their evolution from Optis racing kids through to the Laser ranks.

The Coach boat itself ran really well!  The engine is great.  The new console arrangement is much better from a safety perspective.  Coaches are better positioned and secure with the jockey style seat.  Ensure that operators are cautioned in the use of the auto bailer.  It can drain the battery.

We represented the Comox Bay Sailing Club admirably!  It would be great one day to have some CBSC Race Team jackets made up!   Many teams sport them.

Next weekend is the Victoria “Spring Dinghy” Championships!  Go CBSC go!!
